Playing History

Dave started playing at the age of 9 years in 1961 with Crewe West End Band.He progressed to solo horn at the age of 11 a position he held until leaving the band.
He joined united Co-op Band (Crewe) in 1968 on tenor horn,and during this period with the band also played Baritone ,Euphonium and Eb Bass.
He left to join Cheshire Constabulary Band in 1990 on Eb Bass then moved onto Baritone playing under the Musical direction of Jim Davies (Cory and B&R) and Nick Hudson (Fodens).
After a brief period with Normid 2000 he joined Audley Brass in 1997. Under the musical direction of Kevin Birch he played Baritone for ten years.
He was welcomed back to United Co-op Band in 2007 on Baritone where he looks forward to a period of playing at the highest level

Personal Biography

Dave completed his apprenticeship with British Rail in Crewe but currently works for Bentley Motors where he has worked for the last 31 years in the quality department.
Married to Sheila for 29 years.
He enjoys a game of golf when banding allows.
Although he has no particular favourite piece of music, for sentimental reasons will always remember playing Hungarian Raphsody in 1977 as it was the occasion of his first contest win .
He is also a great fan of traditional jazz music.
