Claire Dixon

Playing History

Claire was born and brought up in Hampshire where she began piano lessons at the age of 5 and trombone lessons at the age of 10. She quickly progressed to become the first female principal trombone of the renowned Hampshire County Youth Orchestra, with whom she toured as far a field as New Zealand and Texas. Claire was also a member of the National Youth Brass Ensemble of Great Britain, performing in some of the most prestigious venues across Europe.

Claire qualified from the Royal Northern College of Music with a BMus (Hons) degree, the following year gaining her PGCE.

The United Co-op Band (Crewe) is the first permanent position Claire has held in a brass band and she has been resident since the year 2000.

Personal Biography

Claire is employed as Head of Music at Aquinas College, the largest Catholic Sixth Form College in Britain. She is married to Andrew Dixon who plays BBb Bass for the band, and they have a daughter who was born in May 2009.
