2nd May 2009 :: Concert :Tunstall Salvation Army
The concert for Tunstall Salvation Army is now a firm favourite of the band and audience alike.
An excelllent venue in which to play and always a very knowledgable and appreciative audience.
The Concert commenced with "Valero" a lively big band number now a massive favourite and probably our most requested number to date.
This was followed by "Four Rennaissance Dances" and the introduction to the audience of Hannah Edwards as soloist on xylophone playing "Nola" arranged for Hannah by the bands resident composer Mr Kevin Birch .
To play to a full citadel is always great for the band and the first half closed with "Pageantry" an ideal run out prior to the Spring Brass Festival in Blackpool next week.
The audience were promised a relaxing second half and this commenced with a new arrangement of the Lionel Ritchie classic "All Night Long" (could this be the one to remove "Valero" from the number one spot?)
The soloists for second half were our new cornet soloist Rory Rolfe playing "Sugar Blues" and our most experienced soloist Annette Sparkes who introduced a new solo to the concert ,"Untold Story " by Paul Lovatt Cooper .
The audience were very appreciative through the whole evening and the concert was brought to a fitting close with "I,ll Walk With God"
We look forward very much to returning and performing for our friends at Tunstall again in the future.-- More pictures of the concert can be found in in our picture section
