28th June 2008 :: Event - United Co-op Climb Snowdon

Following the move to Underwood lane several ideas were put forward for fund raising .Some of the more energetic suggested they would do a sponsored trek up Snowdon .
On the day five members set off at 06.00 for Snowdonia and met to start walking at 10.00.
The weather was kind to start and all set off enthusiastically for the top .
By halfway the weather started closing in and the mountain patrol were checking people were suitably prepared as the summit was at zero visibility and sub zero temperatures due to the heavy winds .
As the pictures prove all decided to carry on and made the summit .
Mr Birch not happy with just that proceeded to empty his rucksack not for warm clothes but for his trombone (type) instrument .He then performed the melody line from Snowdon fantasy to the poor onlookers .
The descent was made easier with the thoughts of the local hotel bar and a nice celebration pint .
