About the band...
The Co-operative Band, Crewe, was originally formed by Harry Mortimer as an RAF ATC Band at the end of World War Two, to entertain the Troops. The band is well established in the North West Area, and in 2007 celebrated 50 years of continuous sponsorship from the Co-operative movement.
Less well known than the ‘big’ names alongside which they compete in the Championship Section, the band has a well earned reputation for highly musical, varied and entertaining programmes; with something to please everyone. The players and Musical Director, Jef Sparkes, share a passion for creating excellent performances. You can Contact us via this website.
The band moved to a fantastic new rehearsal facility in March 2008 at Underwood Lane, Crewe. The facilities are shared with the Co-operative Youth and Junior Wind Bands, Crewe, bringing on the next generation of musicians. You can watch & listen to the band on the Multimedia page.
Please see the Events page for all upcoming performances; it is updated frequently and you can pre-book tickets if required. The band is proud to be giving its services free of charge to support the charity Help for Heroes in October 2010. Why not pre-book now? We look forward to seeing you
